“My shifts feel like Monaco Grand Prix 1972”- Max Verstappen Falls Out of Podium Positions at the Monaco Grand Prix 2025!

Verstappen had some sarcastic comments for his Red Bull during the race.

Max Verstappen was standing on the top step of the podium only a week ago. But, once again his Red Bull was unable to meet his expectations. McLaren and Ferrari were the defining cars throughout the weekend. Verstappen is facing a dramatic 2025 season at Red Bull Racing.

The Dutch Lion won the 2024 Formula 1 season. However, his Red Bull is no more the fastest car on the grid. Since the second half of the season, his performance is the sole reason that Red Bull Racing is among the top teams. Since the start of the 2025 F1 season, Verstappen is facing ups and downs in the championship. Max Verstappen won from pole in Japan. Since then, he was unable to get back on top of the podium.

The last weekend was among the better ones for him this season. He won the Imola Grand Prix in front of the Tifosi. Verstappen earned enough points to stay in contention among the much faster McLarens.

Max Verstappen Finishes Monaco GP in Fourth Place

Max Verstappen has won the Monaco GP twice in his career. He also led the race for the last laps of the 2025 Monaco GP. Red Bull Racing was trying to gamble on a late race safety car. They tried to hold out Max Verstappen’s second pit-stop until the last moment.

Max Verstappen may not have won the race. But, he did manage to bring in trouble for Lando Norris. Verstappen tried to make Norris fall prey to Charles Leclerc and snatch away crucial championship points from his rival.

But, Verstappen’s late race games were not enough to get him a podium finish. Early on in the race, he complained about having a difficult time with gear shifts. He made a hilarious remark about his car driving like an ancient automobile during the race.

Max Verstappen was utterly disappointed with the race. Even though, he has won Monaco twice he didn’t particularly like racing at this circuit.

In his post-race conference Max Verstappen was full of sarcasm-

“Yeah, but then we are almost doing Mario Kart. Then we have to install bits on the car, maybe you can throw bananas around? Slippery surface!”
