Norman Powell
Norman Powell is an American professional basketball player with Jamaican ancestry, known for his work ethic, athleticism, and scoring ability. High School and College Career Powell excelled in basketball since high school. He was a two-time all-state selection in California and led his team to a state championship. He capped off his high school career by winning the San Diego County All Star Game Dunk Contest, and was considered a four-star recruit by ESPN.com. He chose to play college basketball for the UCLA Bruins, where he remained from 2011 to 2015. Despite starting his college career with inconsistent minutes, he emerged as a team leader in his senior year. In 2014–15, he earned first-team All-Pac-12 honors, solidifying his reputation as one of the conference’s top players. NBA Career: Toronto Raptors (2015–2021) Powell was selected by the Milwaukee Bucks with the 46th overall pick (second round) in the 2015 NBA Draft. However, his draft rights were immediately traded to the Toronto Raptors in exchange for Greivis Vásquez. After signing with Toronto, he participated in the 2015 Summer League in Las Vegas, where he became the only rookie to be named to the Summer League First Team. His rookie season in 2015–16 was marked by opportunities due to injuries to other players, allowing him to make his first starts and demonstrate his potential. In April 2016, Powell was named the Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month. His time in Toronto was a continuous success, culminating in winning the 2019 NBA Championship with the Raptors. Los Angeles Clippers (2022–2025) In February 2022, Powell was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers. During his time in Los Angeles, he achieved his career-high scoring average, with 21.8 points per game last season, with high shooting efficiency.
