Ian Garry Is a Man With a Plan- Garry States His Next 3-Fight Plan

Eric Divakaran

Ian Garry faced Carlos Prates in the main event of UFC Kansas City at T-Mobile Center in Kansas City. This welterweight bout pitted the No.7 ranked Garry who has a 16-1-0 record against the No. 13 ranked Prates who has a 21-7-0 record currently. The fight was elevated to the headliner after a light heavyweight fight between Jamahal Hill and Khalil Rountree Jr. was scrapped due to Hill’s injury.

Garry was coming off of his first loss of his career against Shavkat Rakhmonov and aimed to rebound and solidfy his status. Meanwhile, Prates was on a 11-fight win streak, and had knocked out all of his UFC opponents so far. Garry controlled the early rounds of the fight, however, Prates rallied back in the fourth and the fifth round, and was trying to finish Garry, but he ultimately came up short.

While the fight was close, the verdict was already decided by the time it was time to declare the winner. Garry came back into the win column with his latest win against Prates, and the welterweight looks tougher than it’s ever been before.

After the fight, Ian Garry announced his plans for what comes next, after beating Prates. And let us warn you, that it is some of the boldest plans you may have heard about in a while. Let’s get right into it.

Garry’s Next 3-Fight Plan

In the post-fight interview, Garry already had his mind set about who he wants to take on next. While most fighters plan for a single fight ahead, Garry has already thought about his next 3 fights, and here is what he said;

“You know I like plans right. You guys know I have visions in my mind… I’m gonna fight the winner, I believe it’s Belal and that’s nothing against Jack, I just believe stylistically Belal has what it takes to get this fight done… So I’m gonna fight Belal next, I’m gonna beat Belal. Belal said it many times that I’m the toughest opponent in the division for him.”

After beating Belal Muhammad, Garry wants to take on Islam Makhachev for his first title defense fight and the reason why is because, Garry wants to overtake Makhachev for the No.1 Pound-for-Pound fighter in the UFC. He sounded extremely confident about his chances against Islam, and once he’s done beating Makhachev, he wants to fight Shavkat Rakhmonov for his second title defense fight. Garry said “I’m going to go in there and dismantle that man (Rakhmonov).”

I cover the National Football League and things cannot get better than that. I always dreamed to play football or basketball professionally since I’m built like a Running Back. But now that I can’t, since I’m technically in the “Unc” age, I thought why not pick a career in sports industry? So here I am, doing what I love, and hoping that the Commanders win the Super Bowl. I give love to players when it’s due, but can be critical about their performances at the same time. Enough about me, now let my articles do all the talking.
