WrestleMania Result: Jey Uso defeats Gunther, New World Heavyweight Championship Reign Starts

Jey Uso created history in the ring on WrestleMania Day 1.

Gunther and Jey Uso have had quite a history that concluded at WrestleMania 2025. Jey Uso entered the ring as a fan favorite, and more than 60,000 fans were Yeeting on him. WWE Universe saw an entirely different Jey Uso, who was never ready to leave the ring defeated. Gunther even cheated and hit Jey Uso with his championship belt, but that wasn’t enough to keep Jey down. The match swung from one opponent to another in seconds.

Gunther and Jey Uso exchanged massive blows initially. Jey Uso delivered a spear, but one spear would do nothing to a man they call the Ring General. Gunther delivered chop after chop, but Jey Uso asked for more. Jey Uso delivered a spear, followed by a Uso Splash, but Gunther kicked out. Gunther delivered a suplex from the third rope, followed by a powerbomb, and held him in the sleeper hold, but Jey Uso didn’t tap out.

Jey Uso becomes the New World Heavyweight Champion, beating Gunther in his own game

Jey Uso has never been shown so much intensity in a match as today. Every move Gunther tried on Jey made him come out harder. He was like a man possessed inside the ring. He refused to give an inch to Gunther. He countered a Powerbomb attempt and delivered a powerbomb to Gunther. He followed it up with a superkick, a spear, another superkick, and three Uso splashes.

Jey Uso knew it wasn’t enough to keep Gunther down. He didn’t stop and held Gunther in a sleeper hold, and the latter tapped out. Jey Uso became the new World Heavyweight Champion. Jimmy Uso entered the ring to congratulate his brother and presented him with the Championship belt before leaving the ring.
