Yuki Tsunoda seems to have settled in with Red Bull Racing finally. He took the second seat at the Bulls from an underperforming Liam Lawson. Even though, Tsunoda did not have a good weekend in Japan, he won the Driver of the Day award for his efforts. However, the Bahrain GP was a completely different story for the Japanese Red Bull driver. Max Verstappen, his teammate, was plagued with issues throughout the weekend. Tsunoda was also trying to tame the difficult RB21 since his debut with the team.

The Bahrain GP Qualifying saw Tsunoda grab tenth place on the grid for the race on Sunday. His pace brough in positive news for Red Bull Racing, who had not seen the Q3 in 2025 yet. Sunday came and Yuki Tsunoda gave it everything he could to bring the best results for the team’s second car after a long time.

Yuki Tsunoda was involved in a hasty decision by Red Bull Racing. But the performances he has displayed in the past weekends are more than enough to support his cause. It seems like Tsunoda is here to stay.

Yuki Tsunoda Claims the First Double-Point Finish for Red Bull Racing

Yuki Tsunoda improved his grid position and finished ninth in the race. He brought crucial points for Red Bull Racing alongside Max Verstappen. Tsunoda’s first points for Red Bull Racing also helped them attain their first race with both cars in the top-10. The Red Bull second seat has not won any points for the team since COTA 2024 race last year. Tsunoda seems to be adapting in his new role at Red Bull Racing.

Yuki Tsunoda getting better this weekend spells good news for Red Bull Racing. Christian Horner himself has praised the Japanese for his race-

“I thought actually Yuki has had a very solid weekend, he qualified in the top 10, finished in the points today, he drove pretty well,” Horner told the media after the Grand Prix. He was only 12 or 14 seconds behind his team mate so I thought Yuki’s race was actually reasonable today.”

Yuki Tsunoda’s race was full of obstacles however. He faced the same pit stop issues as Max Verstappen. Tsunoda also got into a huge skirmish with Carlos Sainz in the later stage of the race. Tsunoda destroyed the side pod of Carlos Sainz’s car in a racing incident. Even though, Tsunoda has not yet received a penalty for his move, he is being criticised widely for ruining Carlos Sainz’s race.

Nevertheless, Yuki Tsunoda has built a foundation for himself at Red Bull. He will have to improve his results next weekend and also help out Red Bull in upgrading their catastrophe of a car.
