One of the top prospects in the 2025 NFL draft is quarterback Shedeur Sanders who played for the Colorado Buffaloes last year. Sanders, 23, joined the Buffaloes to play under his father Deion Sanders in 2023. Prior to that, he played for the Jackson State Tigers for two years.

Although the 2023 season was a challenge for Sanders and the Buffaloes as a whole, they turned things around in 2024 and went from a 4-7 record to a 9-4 one. Sanders won the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year Award and the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award last season. Despite not performing on-field workouts at the NFL Combine, Sanders remains a top prospect for teams looking for a new franchise signal caller.

Being one of the weaker quarterback classes this time around, Miami’s Cam Ward and Sanders are expected to be the first two quarterbacks off the board. As the son of a former NFL player, Sanders is not new to the professional life of a footballer and the wealth that comes with it. Beats by Dre

Beats, an audio manufacturing company, had a NIL deal in place with Sanders from 2021. However, in October 2023, they made their biggest foray into the NIL market signing 15 college football stars with the launch of its first “Beats Elite” class. Sanders was 1 of 12 quarterbacks signed.

In 2022, while still playing for the Jackson State Tigers, Gatorade signed its very first HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) athlete, Shedeur Sanders to an NIL Deal.

Another NIL deal while at Jackson State, Sanders signed with PLB Sports to promote their “#2 BBQ Sauce.” PLB Sports & Entertainment creates high-quality food products with athletes.

Actively Black

Actively Black is a premium athleisure and sports apparel brand that entered NIL by signing three Jackson State players, Travis Hunter and brothers, Shedeur and Shilo Sanders in 2022. The brand was launched by former NBA player Lanny Smith. The brand aims to give back to the HBCU community as its name suggests.

Mercedes-Benz

Continuing his many deals in 2022, Sanders then signed a NIL deal with the giant of the automobile industry – Mercedes Benz. He appeared in many media promotions over various platforms with the main focus being on the electric EQB SUV. Sanders also received his own SUV from the brand.

Oikos is a yogurt brand that roped in Deion Sanders and his sons Shedeur and Shilo for their Super Bowl ad in 2023. This NIL opportunity was one of the rare ones featuring a TV commercial.
