WWE SmackDown Result: Carmelo Hayes paid the price for disrespecting Randy Orton, saved by Kevin Owens

Will we see Randy Orton lock horns with Kevin Owens at WrestleMania 41?

Randy Orton competed for the first time since he returned to WWE after his injury. He received a grand reception from the crowd of Spain, who sang Randy Orton’s voices. He returned to WWE at the 2025 Elimination Chamber to save Sami Zayn and punish Kevin Owens. Kevin Owens performed the banned Package Piledriver on Randy Orton, which kept the latter out of action for about four months.

Randy Orton delivered an RKO to Kevin Owens at the Elimination Chamber. He went for the punt kick, but the officials saved Kevin Owens. Randy later claimed he would prove himself as the best punter of WWE on SmackDown. The Legend Killer was in a match against Carmelo Hayes on SmackDown today, and the big-mouthed Melo paid the price for disrespecting him.

Kevin Owens saved Carmelo Hayes from the Wrath of Randy Orton

Carmelo Hayes was about to receive a Punt Kick to his head from Randy Orton, but Kevin Owens pulled him out. Randy Orton showed a gesture of sportsmanship by asking Carmelo Hayes for a handshake, but Carmelo Hayes refused. An infuriated Randy Orton delivered another RKO to Carmelo Hayes and set for a Punt Kick. The kick would have sent Melo’s head into Barca’s goalpost had Kevin Owens not pulled him out.

Carmelo Hayes asked Randy Orton to shake hands before the match but refused when Randy Orton tried to shake his hand. The mind game, however, didn’t prove to be fruitful for Carmelo. Randy Orton came at him with more force and dominated the match till it ended. He showcased his in-ring experience and countered most of Melo’s moves. Melo escaped Randy’s multiple RKO attempts, but the Viper only needs to strike once.

An RKO sealed Melo’s fate, and Randy Orton won the match. He was going for the Punt Kick when Melo disrespected him for the second time. Kevin Owens saved Carmelo Hayes by pulling him out. Randy grabbed ahold of Kevin Owens and started beating him, but Kevin Owens managed to escape a brutal punishment. K.O. and Randy Orton are set on a collision course to one another and might square off inside the ring soon.
