Golden State Warriors create history, become fifth franchise to win 3000 regular-season games

The Warriors won their first NBA game in November 1948 against the Boston Celtics 94-73.

Golden State Warriors routed the Charlotte Hornets 128-92 to win their fourth straight game. The Warriors secured their 3000th regular-season win in the NBA and joined the elite club of reaching this milestone.

Steve Kerr’s side join the Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers and Philadelphia 76ers as the only franchises to win 3,000 or more games in the NBA. It also became special for the Warriors as they achieved this feat in front of the home crowd.

Golden State Warriors’ fortune has been changed since acquiring Jimmy Butler from Miami Heat. The Dubs are 6-1 with Butler and his inclusion has rejuvenated the franchise. Warriors’ 3000th win led by Buddy Hield, who scored a team-high 16 points off the bench. Stephen Curry and Draymond Green scored 15 points each.

The franchise was founded in 1946 and it’s initial name was Philadelphia Warriors. The same team won the inaugural Basketball Association of America (BAA) championship in 1947. The Warriors later moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1962. Franchise’s name changed to Golden State Warriors in 1971.

The Warriors are now eighth in the West with an overall record of 31-27. The Dubs are on a five-game road-trip and will face Orlando Magic on Monday night.
