Lionel Messi scored his first goal of the year on his first official game and helped Inter Miami to secure a 1-0 win over Kansas City on Wednesday. Miami superstar played coldest game of his career. The temperature was -17 degrees but it couldn’t freeze Lionel Messi to score his 851th goal.

The Argentine scored a winning goal for Inter Miami through a long-ball assist from Sergio Busquets. His goal helped Inter Miami to beat Sporting KC 1-0 at a frigid Children’s Mercy Park in the opener of CONCACAF Champions Cup.

Messi owned the second half and provided an early lead in the 57th minute through a long pass from Busquets. Sporting KC had chances to equalize but Inter Miami’s defense secure a 1-0 win.
