There are two players who have won the Slam Dunk Contest thrice.
When the Slam Dunk Contest was introduced in the NBA All-Star festivities for the first time in 1984, nobody knew that it would become one of the most enjoyed and electrifying events in the league.
Since the first contest, fans have seen players channeling their inner supermen and pulling off some of the most jaw-dropping dunks. The NBA All-Star Slam Dunk can be defined as one place where the laws of physics are not applicable!
Not only this event has seen making legends out of the players but also has given the league some of its most unique and memorable moments that are going to stay intact in the history books for the times to come. From Mac McClung to Nate Robinson, there are a few names that have now become synonyms to the All-Star Dunk greats.
Here, we will go down the memory lane and have a look at the players who have won the contest multiple times.
The 25-year-old G League star, Mac McClung scripted history during the 2025 All-Star Slam Dunk contest by becoming the first player to complete a three-peat. The G League star recorded perfect scores of 50 on all four of his creative dunks, the first of which was a homage to 2011 Slam Dunk champion Blake Griffin and his in-famous dunk over a car. Before 2025, McClung won the contest in 2024 and 2023 as well.
The former New York Knicks star Nate Robinson was the only member of an exclusive NBA club till 2025. He became the first player to win the Dunk Contest thrice after winning it in 2006, 2009 and 2010, the first of which came in his rookie year.
Robinson was later joined by Mac McClung in 2025 as the only two players to win the contest thrice.
Not only this, but Robinson is also one of the few players who have won the contest for two consecutive years. The other players are Michael Jordan, Jason Richardson, Zach LaVine, and Mac McClung.
NBA great Michael Jordan comes next in terms of the most wins in an NBA All-Star Dunk Contest. Jordan won back-to-back trophies in 1987 and 1988. Jordan’s participation in the 1988 contest remains one of the best performances in the contest. He is the only NBA scoring champion to win the contest the same season.

Sacramento Kings star Zach LaVine is another name to have won the contest twice, in 2015 and 2016. His rivalry with Aaron Gordon during the Slam Dunk Contest has given the league some of the most savage moments. LaVine, a more seasoned dunker, had a neck-to-neck competition with Gordon, and eventually won both the contests.
Former Cleveland Cavaliers guard Harold Miner comes next in the list of most Slam Dunk wins, two. The 53-year-old won the contest in 1993 and 1995. He defeated Isaiah Rider, the 1994 winner, which helped him solidify his status as one of the best dunkers in the league.
Jason Richardson became another rookie to win the Slam Dunk Contest when he won it in 2002, when he was a part of Golden State Warriors. The former shooting guard then won it again in 2003. Richardson pulled off his best dunk ever to win the 2003 NBA Slam Dunk Contest. It was so unique that Richardson feels he could “never do that dunk again”.
Regarded as one of the most acrobatic slam dunkers in the history of the NBA, nine-time All-Star Dominique Wilkins won the contest twice, in 1985 and 1990. In his second year of winning the contest, Wilkins competed against legends like Scottie Pippen and Shawn Kemp. He delivered an exceptional performance over Kenny Smith in the finals to take the trophy home.
