Their potential clash would be more than just another fight; it’s the kind of matchup that boxing fans tell their grandkids about! Now, the possibility of this dream fight became more real during a recent event in London. And none other than Turki Alalshikh can pull this off.

At the relaunch of Ring magazine, Canelo Alvarez dropped some intriguing hints about facing Crawford. When asked about Saudi Arabia’s boxing kingmaker Turki Alalshikh’s wish to see this fight happen, Alvarez’s response was pretty intriguing. He didn’t beat around the bush. He simply said:
“There’s always a chance there. We’ll see, we’ll see, but there’s always a chance. We’re here to make the best deals.”
This potential matchup has quite a backstory, with both fighters having exchanged some spicy words on social media. Last year, Canelo Alvarez threw out a massive number: $150 million as his asking price for the fight. Terence Crawford, not one to stay quiet, called out Canelo during UFC 306 while sitting next to Alalshikh, who has become boxing’s new deal-maker.

The whole situation got even more interesting when Alalshikh publicly called out Canelo for supposedly ducking tough fights after his loss to Dmitry Bivol. The negotiations stopped after Alalshikh threw the $150 million figure out the window.
I heard what Canelo said that he respects me but doesn't like the way we do business.

As for him respecting me, it doesn't matter to me if he does or not.
As for the way I do business, I know why he doesn't like it, because I only target big fights at fair prices, so of course…
The timing couldn’t be better for this potential showdown. Both fighters are coming off impressive wins. Alvarez successfully defended his super middleweight title against Edgar Berlanga, while Crawford snagged the WBA junior middleweight belt from Israil Madrimov.
With Saudi Arabia’s growing influence in boxing and Alalshikh’s determination to make big fights happen, fans might actually see this dream match materialize. Plus, as Saudi Arabia becomes the new hub for mega-fights, they certainly have the resources to make this happen!
