UFC boss Dana White has dropped some exciting news about making this dream fight happen. In a recent chat with Jim Rome, White seemed more confident than ever about getting Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall in the octagon this year. And surprisingly, he does not see any roadblocks,no drama about money, no contract issues, nothing standing in the way.

“We’re in the works, we’re talking on it. I mean, I’ve said that I’m very confident that fight happens this year.”

The timing couldn’t be better for this potential clash of titans. Jones is fresh off his impressive win over Stipe Miocic at UFC 309, where he showed that his skills have translated perfectly to the heavyweight division. On the other side, Aspinall has been nothing short of spectacular. He bounced back from a freak knee injury to become one of the most feared fighters in the division.

Both these fighters have traded verbal jabs on social media. Aspinall wanted Jon Jones to fight him to unify the titles (rightly so). He tried gloating, trolling, and even outright calling out Jones to make him agree to this fight.

However, Jon Jones sees this fight differently. He sees Tom Aspinall as someone who does not have the credentials to be put on his resume. ‘Bones’ believes that a fight, or even a win against Aspinall, does not do anything for him or his legacy except maybe make him richer by a few million. He instead wanted to fight Alex Pereira.
