‘He’s Gonna Have To Get Knocked Out’ : Chael Sonnen Renders His Verdict On Jon Jones’ Biggest Fight Of 2025!

Chael Sonnen unveils his cryptic verdict on the most anticipated Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall fight of 2025!

MMA fans have always loved a good story about passing the torch. Back in 2011, when Jon Jones dismantled Maurício “Shogun” Rua to become the youngest UFC champion ever, fans witnessed exactly that kind of moment. Now, over a decade later, Jones finds himself on the other side of that equation.

After moving up to heavyweight and defending the title by finishing Stipe Mioicic, many wondered about his next move. But now, Tom Aspinall, the interim heavyweight champion who burst onto the scene with devastating power and surprising agility, is next in line.

Former UFC title challenger and self-proclaimed “undefeated gangster” Chael Sonnen recently shared his thoughts on this potential matchup.

Chael Sonnen’s Prediction On Tom Aspinall vs. Jon Jones Matchup

Chael Sonnen, who faced Jon Jones back in 2013, knows a thing or two about the champion’s abilities. According to the ‘Bad Guy,’ Aspinall’s path to victory isn’t about outpointing or out grappling Jones – it’s about landing that one big shot that puts his lights out.

Sonnen’s take makes sense, considering Jones has never been legitimately knocked out in his entire career, despite facing some of the hardest hitters in both light heavyweight and heavyweight divisions. He believes that to fully cement his legacy as the legitimate heavyweight champion, Aspinall has to get that KO victory.

“If Jon Jones is gonna lose to Tom Aspinall, he is gonna have to get knocked out… And what about when they do take the fighting, when it’s no longer a sport. Which comes in around 2-3 minutes of the 2nd round. You are now in the tough guy business.”

The stakes couldn’t be higher for this potential clash. Everything is on the line for both of these fighters. Jon Jones has a title to defend and a GOAT status to maintain.

Losing to Apinall means an immediate drop from the P4P list as well as a genuine loss on his record. For Aspinall, a win over a legend such as Jones will boost his resume and aura and cement his name as one of the best heavyweights of all time!
