Luka Doncic’s latest appearance in Mavericks vs Lakers sends fans into a frenzy

The Slovenian has been out of action since Christmas Day.

A shorthanded Mavericks embarrassed LeBron James’ Lakers with a blowout 118-97 win on Tuesday. Despite playing without Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, the young Mavericks lineup, with the help of veteran Klay Thompson, stepped up big time to end their 4-game losing streak. Quentin Grimes led the charge with 23 points, nine rebounds, and six assists followed by P.J. Washington who contributed with 22 points and eight rebounds.

Jaden Hardy and Klay Thompson also made scoring efforts, with Hardy putting up 15 points and Thompson adding 13 points.

Even though Luka Doncic was sidelined due to a left calf strain, he was present to cheer for the Mavs. The 25-year-old star was in great spirits throughout the game, constantly cheering on his teammates as they put together a dominant performance.

After the Mavericks ended the second quarter on an 11-0 run, Luka could be seen on the sideline in a cheerful mood, even playfully screaming sarcastically to Lakers’ Dorian Finney-Smith while dribbling the ball.

While Luka has been sidelined with a calf strain, fans got a glimmer of hope with him walking more confidently than he had just a few days ago. The clip went viral as fans quickly noticed how upbeat he appeared, fuelling optimism that his return might come sooner than initially expected.

The Slovenian has been out of action since Christmas Day. He was averaging 28.1 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 7.8 assists in 22 games before the injury. Luka was expected to miss at least another month before making a return but the latest video has sparked a wave of hope among Mavericks fans.
