NBA All-Star Game: Nikola Jokic and Giannis Antetokounmpo lead NBA All-Star voting in first fan returns

Giannis Antetokounmpo and Nikola Jokic are off to a strong start in the 2024 NBA All-Star voting, with both superstars leading their respective conferences in the first fan returns.

Giannis is leading the overall vote with 1,710,630 ballots in his favor. The Milwaukee Bucks forward is putting up impressive numbers this season, averaging 32.6 points, 11.6 rebounds, and 6.0 assists in 25 games.

Meanwhile, Nikola Jokic, who made history in Nuggets’ victory over Hawks last night, leads the Western Conference vote with 1,422,121 votes. The Denver Nuggets center is having another MVP-caliber season, averaging 31.0 points, 12.9 rebounds, and 9.5 assists in 28 games.

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, who already holds the record for the most NBA All-Star game appearances, ranks third in the Western Conference with 1,167,661 votes.

Kevin Durant, Karl-Anthony Towns get big All-Star first return voting numbers

Other players who received one million or more votes are Jayson Tatum (1,385,851), Kevin Durant (1,268,799), Karl-Anthony Towns (1,099,966) and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (1,053,683).

Karl-Anthony Towns, who joined the New York Knicks from the Minnesota Timberwolves this offseason, has seen a huge increase in voting compared to last year. He has received 1,099,966 votes, up almost 8 times from last year’s 139,642.

The fan vote will play a big role in determining the All-Star starters, with votes set to count three times during a special 3-for-1 Day on Friday. Fans have until Monday, January 20, to cast their ballots.

The second wave of voting results will be revealed on January 9, with the official All-Star starters being announced on January 23. The All-Star reserves, selected by coaches, will be revealed on January 30.

NBA has adopted a new format for the All-Star Game this season which will feature three games and four teams. Former NBA stars Shaquille O’Neal, Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith will draft All-Star squads to join the Rising Stars game-winner.

The 2024 NBA All-Star Game will take place on February 16 at San Francisco’s Chase Center.
