The revamped FIFA Club World Cup is set to kick off on June 14, 2025 in the United States. 32 clubs from all around the globe will be fighting for glory in the significantly expanded format over the span of a month. These clubs have been divided into 8 groups – Group A through H.

It is mirroring the tournament format of the FIFA World Cup itself. Group D includes Flamengo, Esperance Sportive de Tunis, Chelsea, and Los Angeles FC. While it might not be the toughest group of the bunch, it may set up a few exciting encounters.

The four teams playing in this group are Flamengo, Es Tunis, Chelsea, and LAFC. The Brazilian Serie A side, Flamengo booked their spot for the tournament thanks to their win in the 2022 CONMEBOL Libertadores. The Tunisian side, Es Tunis is one of the four CAF teams who earned their spot in the competition due to their four-year ranking.

Chelsea, who are coming fresh off of their Conference League win, qualified, courtesy of their 2021 UEFA Champions League victory. The EPL side are favourites to progress to the knockouts. Meanwhile, Los Angeles FC, the MLS side secured their spot in the competition after a thrilling comeback in the playoff match against Club America.

Chelsea vs LAFC (June 17, 2025)

This will be an exciting start to Group D. Chelsea will face their former striker, Olivier Giroud and former Spurs keeper Hugo Lloris in what will certainly be a thrilling encounter, though LAFC might find it challenging against the EPL giants.

Flamengo vs Chelsea (June 20, 2025)
