Alonso Poised to Replace Ancelotti at Real Madrid in Major Coaching Shift

Real Madrid Is having a stumbling season after the April matchday results. Losing the Copa Del Rey Finals to FC Barcelona and the exit from the Champions League comes in as a blow. Moreover, with the fate of La Liga out of their hands, Carlo Ancelotti is heading to a trophy-less season as things stand.

The Italian manager who started his second stint in 2021 has had a decorated time at the Spanish Capital. With the Brazil National Team in advance talks of signing Ancelotti, several reports of his replacements have also emerged in recent weeks.

Xabi Alonso Is the Favourite To Be the New Real Madrid Manager

Bayern Leverkusen has had significant success under the influence of Xabi Alonso. Leading Leverkusen to its first-ever Bundesliga title in the 2023/24 season, the Spanish could be lining up for his new destiny back in his home country.

Alonso emerges as the top contender, with many predicting that this summer could be the year for a change. Reports suggest that Real Madrid’s president, Florentino Perez, holds Alonso in high esteem and believes the former Real Madrid captain is the ideal coach to lead the club’s star-studded squad.

With reports from GiveMeSport suggesting the players he could sign already, the noise makes it sound like a done deal. However, no official talks have been confirmed by either of the parties. Making over 200 appearances for Real Madrid from 2009-2014, the former defender is closer than ever to a return to Santiago Bernabeu.

Alonso said he had no updates on being as about his future quoting: “My future? Nothing new to say. We have to wait. Communication with the club is always good. There is clarity between everyone.” The 43-year-old has rejected a few offers over the last season as the fans speculate he was waiting for a move to Madrid.

Real Madrid who fans and pundits say has a dream team at their service will have very less to show if FC Barcelona doesn’t stumble in the La Liga. Moreover, given the standards that have been set over the years, the departure of players like Casemiro and Toni Kroos has started to reflect.

With players like Dani Carvajal and Luka Modric taking the supporting cast, a new system could be said in the making. Bringing in a new manager to change the mindset as the synergy among the stars keeps growing, Real Madrid is heading towards a gradual rebuild.
