WWE Backlash Rumor: Dominic Mysterio(c) vs. Penta, Match Preview and Prediction, Announced Match for WWE IC Title

Will Penta be able to win his first title in WWE?

Penta has created a separate fan base in WWE ever since he made his debut on the Netflix debut of Raw. He has been entertaining the crowd with his gravity-defying moves. He has been part of many matches but has only been pinned twice, that too due to an outside intervention. He wrestled for the WWE Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania in a Fatal Four Way match against Dominic Mysterio, Bron Breakker, and Finn Balor.

Penta has shown immaculate skills in WWE, which has raised challenges and conflicts. It was Ludwig Kaiser and Pete Dunne in the beginning and Bron Breakker later. Judgment Day were able to keep him away from the Intercontinental title till now, but not anymore. Penta defeated JD McDonagh and booked himself a ticket for Backlash 2025.

Dominic Mysterio Put His Intercontinental Title on the Line Against Penta at Backlash

Penta defeated JD McDonagh in a match where Finn Balor, Carlito, and Chad Gable tried everything to distract him. The match saw numerous interruptions from Finn Balor and Carlito, and later from Chad Gable, but they were unable to stop Penta from defeating JD McDonagh. He will now face Dominic Mysterio for the WWE Intercontinental Championship at WWE Backlash 2025.

Penta has been trying to get his hands on the WWE Intercontinental title, but each time he gets close, the Judgment Day interrupts and costs him the opportunity. They cost him the opportunity against Bron Breakker and then at WrestleMania. The most recent of them was Raw on Netflix on April 21, 2025, when JD McDonagh and Carlito interrupted last week and saved Dominic Mysterio and costing Penta the match and the title.

Penta To Become the New WWE Intercontinental Champion

Penta can easily overpower Dominic Mysterio if there are no interruptions from the Judgment Day and Chad Gable. We are, however, sure that the Judgment Day and Chad Gable will be the deciding factor in the match. Only this time, Finn Balor will help Penta instead of Dirty Dom. Yup, WWE has been placing subtle hints that the Judgment Day will implode. It all started with Dominic Mysterio rising to power due to Liv Morgan.

Dominic Mysterio cost Finn Balor the title match against Bron Breakker. He again stole the title from Finn Balor at WrestleMania 41 when the latter was about to pin Bron Breakker. Dominic Mysterio, however, had other ideas, as he performed a frog splash on Finn Balor to win the Intercontinental Championship. Finn Balor felt betrayed and would surely await the perfect moment to strike.
