The Queen’s Club Championships has made a long-awaited return to the WTA calendar after a 52-year hiatus, the last edition being held in 1973. The 2025 tournament is set to run from June 9 to 15, with both the singles and doubles finals scheduled for the final day. Given the venue’s compact setup, the WTA event will be immediately followed by the ATP edition from June 16 to 22.

Given the split schedule, London continues its tradition as a key warm-up destination ahead of Wimbledon, helping players transition smoothly from clay to grass. Let’s take a closer look at the schedule, format, and what’s new this season.

WTA Queen’s Club Championships 2025 Schedule

The main draw action of the WTA Queen’s Club Championships begins on June 9, after the two-day qualifying tournament, held on June 7 and 8.

WTA Queen’s Club Championships 2025 Format & Information

The 2025 Queen’s Club Championships follows a single-elimination format with a 28-player main draw in the women’s singles event. Among them are six qualifiers and four wild cards. The top eight players are seeded, with the top four receiving first-round byes, giving them a slight edge heading into the week.

Until 1973, the Queen’s Club hosted both men’s and women’s events under the banner of the London Grass Court Championships. But after that year, the women’s competition was dropped entirely, and even the men’s edition saw a brief pause between 1974 and 1976. It wasn’t until 1977 that the Queen’s Club Championships were reinstated for the ATP.

Now, after 52 long years, women are finally back on these iconic London lawns, in part due to the Lawn Tennis Association’s (LTA) growing push for women’s tennis and the continued success of Eastbourne as a joint event.

However, the return hasn’t been without growing pains. With limited court availability early in the week, some ATP players have voiced concerns about grass quality as they await their main draw.

In response, the LTA has announced a formal review post-tournament. And looking ahead, the LTA has pledged that by 2029, Queen’s and Eastbourne will offer equal prize money across genders.
