Who will reach the final?

Four remain, and only two can progress to the summit clash. The WTA Madrid Open 2025 has not disappointed. Top two seeds and last year’s finalists Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek will do everything in their power to enter the final. Meanwhile, they will face the stiffest competition yet from some potent opponents. Take a look:

Madrid Open 2025 Women’s Semifinal Schedule

Iga Swiatek (2) vs Coco Gauff (4)

At the start of the tournament, many pundits predicted a potential semifinal between Swiatek and Gauff. Seeded No. 2 and No. 4, the two powerhouses have had contrasting tournaments in Madrid this year. While Gauff is yet to drop a set after being bageled in her opening round match, Swiatek has played three sets in three out of four encounters.

The head to head record between these two players is 11-3 in favour of the Polish starlet. However, the 21-year-old American has won their previous two meetings. Yet, Iga will be the one people place the big bets on – considering she is yet to lose to Gauff on clay.

Aryna Sabalenka (1) vs Elina Svitolina (17)

A rivalry that has given us some great matches over the years, Aryna Sabalenka and Elina Svitolina will lock horns for the sixth time in their careers. The Ukrainian’s last victory against the World No. 1 came in 2020; however, she troubled the Belarusian in their last meeting on clay.

Sabalenka leads the head to head against Svitolina by 4-1. Their solitary Grand Slam battle was at Roland Garros in 2023 – Sabalenka won 6-4 6-4. Provided she can produce a similar level of tennis and neutralise her 30-year-old opponent’s fierce backhand, the reigning US Open champion is likely to make it to the final.
