24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic, who is tied with Margaret Court for the most majors in the history of the game, has made an interesting decision ahead of the upcoming US Open 2025. The Serbian icon, who is chasing a record-breaking trophy at Flushing Meadows, won his last Grand Slam at New York – two years ago. Can he overcome the odds to regain his lost crown?

After a significantly poor start to the season, Djokovic won the elusive 100th career championship at the Geneva Open. Since then, the 38-year-old has lost two consecutive semifinals to Jannik Sinner – at Roland Garros and Wimbledon. Entering the next stretch of the season with a 26-9 record this year, Djokovic will be shifting major focus to the US Open. Whilst he is competing in the mixed doubles event alongside Olga Danilovic, his main goal will be to win a 5th title in New York.

The US Open this year will take place between 24 August and 7 September, 2025. Ahead of the highly anticipated competition, here’s what ‘The Djoker’ has decided.

On Thursday, reports emerged that Djokovic is set to wear an all-black outfit at the upcoming US Open. The Serb, who has been sporting a blue top over the past few years, will be hoping that a change in colour will bring about a change in fortunes for him. According to Australia’s former Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios, Djokovic is unlikely to play for more than a year from now. If so, the US Open could be his best shot at glory.

Speaking of Australians, Djokovic’s 2024 US Open campaign was cut short by Alexei Popyrin in the Round of 32. Nonetheless, it is a tournament and surface that has given him tons of success in the past. While Sinner remains an impending obstacle, fellow rival Carlos Alcaraz does not have the best of records at the final major of the year.
