Aryna Sabalenka joins Serena Williams to reach 12,000 points in WTA Rankings, Maintains Huge Gap over World No. 2 Coco Gauff

Aryna Sabalenka is having a career-best season despite missing the title glory in first three Grand Slams. She has proved why she’s the number one tennis player in the women’s category. The Belarusian ace maintained her top spot in the PIF WTA Rankings. She reached the finals in two out of three major events this year.

Following the semifinal exit in the Wimbledon last week, Sabalenka earned 780 points and crossed 12000 points in the PIF WTA Rankings. She is now standing tall at the No. 1 spot with 12,420 points. She became the first player to reach the 12000 points milestone for the first time since 2015. Serena Williams was the last player to hit the mark, reaching 12,721 points during the 2015 US Open.

Sabalenka Opens Up a 4,751-point lead over World No. 2 Coco Gauff

Aryna Sabalenka has showed a big domination in the WTA Rankings and she is not looking to lose the top spot at least this year. The Belarusian ace opened up a 4,751-point lead over World No. 2 Coco Gauff. This is the biggest gap between two top-ranked players in last two years. 6-time major champion, Iga Swiatek had a 4800-point lead over Sabalenka in February 2023.

Sabalenka is maintaining the top spot from last two and half years. Swiatek, who recently won the Wimbledon championship, takes No. 3 position in the world with 6,813 points. The Polish ace fell short of 305 points to join Serena Williams to cross 12000 points.

Sabalenka reached the finals in the Australian Open and Roland Garros this year and lost to the US rivals, Madison Keys and Coco Gauff respectively. She reached the semifinals 10 times out of the last 11 Grand Slam events. She has posted a dominating 47-9 record this year and bagged three titles in Brisbane, Miami, and Madrid.

Sabalenka is the only player to qualify for the WTA Finals which will be played in Riyadh. The Belarusian ace is now on summer vacation and might start preparation from the Cincinnati Open which is starting in the first week of August. Later, she will give a final push for the Grand Slam glory in the US Open next month. Aryna Sabalenka spent 92hrs and 24 minutes which is the most time on court in Women’s Singles at WTA-level during 2025.
