WNBA Best Picks: Same Game Parlay, Spread & Prediction for Sky vs Mercury

The Chicago Sky (7-20) is having a forgettable season. The injuries to their top two scorers, Angel Reese and Ariel Atkins, have dented them further. They were already without Courtney Vandersloot for the season. Meanwhile, the Phoenix Mercury (16-11) have fallen off a cliff, too.

They had a 15-6 start to the season but have now lost five of their last six games. Can the short-handed Sky spring a surprise here? Or is this the game Mercury needed to bounce back? Here is my favorite Same Game Parlay for the affair.

The Sky has lost seven in a row, their biggest losing streak. Reese’s absence has hurt them on multiple fronts. Most of these losses have been by at least 13 points, which explains the bloated spread of -13.5 in favor of the Mercury.

On the other hand, Phoenix has also faced multiple defeats by 10+ points. They are playing their worst basketball by far. The Sky can take advantage of that and perhaps close the gap.

I see the Mercury winning here by 8-11 points, so the Sky can cover the spread.

Kamilla Cardoso: Rebounds

Cardoso is averaging 8 rebounds per game. However, lately, that season average has been an undercount. The Sky center has increased her boards accumulation since the injury to Angel Reese. She has grabbed double-digit rebounds in six straight games. I expect her to pull down at least 9 boards.

Banham has been the most potent long-range weapon for the Sky these days. Her scoring heroics have at least kept them in striking distance briefly. The guard has scored 12+ in four straight games, way above her season average of 9.6 PPG. I believe she will continue the trend.

The SGP here is not necessarily non-risky. Expecting Sky to cover even such a high spread is aiming too vertically. Meanwhile, Banham can have an off-night after enjoying a bountiful scoring. However, I trust both these bets to land as the Cardoso pick appears by far the safest here.

Alyssa Thomas- Rebounds

The Mercury forward has been one of the best rebounders all season long. She averages 8.4 RPG and has picked up her board game further. She has nabbed 10 or more rebounds in five straight games. I expect her to go “Over” again.
