Fever vs. Liberty: Will Caitlin Clark Play Tonight? Latest Update Regarding Indiana’s Star Guard

Garima Ranawat

Clark has been out of action for almost three months due to her left quadriceps injury.

The Indiana Fever will host the New York Liberty on Saturday, June 14 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. They will head into the game on the back of a blowout loss to the Atlanta Dream, which marked their fifth loss of the season. The Liberty, on the other hand, are going strong after nine games. In their previous game, the reigning champions defeated the Chicago Sky 85-66.

The Liberty have Breanna Stewart leading their charts with an average of 19.0 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game. On the other hand, the Fever are being led by Caitlin Clark, who is averaging 19.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 9.3 assists per contest. Clark has only played four games so far, and her last appearance came during the previous meeting between the Fever and the Liberty.

The Rookie of the Year 2024 suffered a left quadriceps injury during Fever’s 90-88 loss to the Liberty, where she put up a double-double performance with 18 points and 10 assists. The exact moment of her injury wasn’t known but as a result Clark hasn’t laced up for the Fever since then. She was set to return to the court on June 10 against the Dream. However, the team maintained a cautious approach and let her take sufficient time to rest for a bit longer.

Will Caitlin Clark Play Tonight?

Out for five games this season, Clark is set to return to action as the Fever welcome the reigning champions on Saturday. The team took to social media and announced that the 23-year-old will return to the lineup. This would mark the end of Clark’s longest injury-related absence of her collegiate as well as professional career. Notably, during her absence, the Fever suffered three losses and recorded two wins.

Currently sitting in the seventh spot, the team would want to get back their winning momentum with the return of their superstar.

Apart from Clark, Indiana will also see the return of Sophie Cunningham who reaggravated her ankle injury on May 30. However, they will be without DeWanna Bonner due to personal reasons.
