This is the worst ever start for the Wings in the WNBA history.
Dallas Wings are having a nightmare start to the 2025 WNBA season as they dropped their seventh straight match on Friday night. The Las Vegas Aces edge out the Wings 88-84 to secure the crucial win in the Commissioner’s Cup. Vegas overcame an 11-point deficit in final four minutes to snatch a narrow victory.
Aces now tied to 2-2 in Commissioner’s Cup play and the Wings slipped to bottom in the competition with a 0-5 record. Jackie Young scored 28 points, including 8-for-8 shooting to lead a victory for Las Vegas. Jewell Loyd added 21 points, including the go-ahead 3-pointer with 28.3 seconds left. Chelsea Gray contributed 13 for the Aces, who played without MVP A’ja Wilson.

Las Vegas built a 49-40 lead at halftime after outscoring the Wings in both quarters. Dallas opened the third quarter with an 18-0 run to flip a nine-point deficit into a 58-49 lead. The Wings outscored the Aces 30-15 in the period to take a 70-64 lead heading to the final quarter. In first three quarters, Las Vegas committed 10 turnovers and Dallas turned them into 14 points.
The Wings opened up the double-digit lead through Geiselsoder’s basket with 3:55 to play. For next three and half minutes, Dallas failed to score and Las Vegas scored 15 straight points to regain the lead. Paige Bueckers made two free throws with 8.1 seconds left to make it 84-86. Young responded with two final free throws to seal the game.

Arike Ogunbowale led the Wings with 26 points and Paige Bueckers dropped 16 points in the defeat. Bueckers also misseed a pullup jump shot with a minute to go which proved costly for the Wings. Dallas are 0-4 without Bueckers and 0-2 since her return to the lineup. DiJonai Carrington added 15 points and Luisa Geiselsoder had 13 for the Wings, who fell to 1-11 in the league.
This is the worst ever start for the Wings in the WNBA history. Dallas Wings had better shooting percentage than Aces from the floor and three-point range. However, they failed to convert those crucial attempts into points in final phase of the game. The Wings will now return home to face the Golden State Valkyries on Thursday. Team will have a five-day break to fix their issues and come back stronger.
