Who is Arsenal’s New Sporting Director, Andrea Berta?

Arsenal on Sunday, March 30, announced the recruitment of their new sporting director Andrea Berta. Replacing Edu Gaspar, who resigned in November 2024, Berta is predicted to overtake the operations immediately after the contractual formalities.

Starting his football management career in Division D of Italy, Berta is a known figure in the world of football now. Hugely respected among the tiers, the 53-year-old is expected to boost the Gunners’ transfer agenda.

Joining Arsenal, Berta expressed huge enthusiasm for helping the North London club. Talking about their rich history and reinstating European levels, Berta said:

Berta spent more than a decade with Atletico Madrid recruiting some world-class players. Being responsible for signings like Antoine Griezmann, Jan Oblak, and Rodri he also generated significant profits from sales.

During his tenure at Atletico Madrid, the club won La Liga and the UEFA Europa League twice. Moreover, he can also be said to have a record of working under financial constraints given Atletico’s culture.

With recent signings not proving to be par, Berta faces a huge mountain of filling in the depth of the Arsenal squad.
