Chelsea Outcast Raheem Sterling Fails to Impress Mikel Arteta – What’s Next for Him?

Premier League club Arsenal are reportedly unwilling to exercise the buy option on winger Raheem Sterling following a quite debut season. Sterling joined the Gunners on loan from Chelsea at the start of the campaign. However, after failing to make an impact under Mikel Arteta, the 30-year-old is expected to return to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea signed Sterling from Manchester City at a staggering price of $59.8 million in July 2022. After starting 23 games for them in the 2022/23, the winger could only score six goals in the Premier League.

Making 61 appearances for Chelsea in the Premier League, Sterling was loaned to Arsenal before the start of this season. There was no loan fee asked as he was sent with an option to buy next season.

Since arriving at the Emirates, Sterling has made 12 appearances and started four games in the Premier League. However, failing to score all season, the Englishman has raised doubts about his future at Arsenal.

With the latest reports suggesting Arteta might not hit the lock on Sterling, the four-time Premier League winner might have to look for a new home.

Potential Clubs for Raheem Sterling

However, the former Manchester City star still has plenty to offer. Here are three clubs that could be interested in signing Sterling this summer.

Juventus

The Italian club has been linked to Sterling over the past few months. With the side looking to increase their attacking prowess, Sterling could be a fit in their squad. Juventus could offer the Englishman a fresh start in the Serie A. Moreover, playing in a comparatively slower-paced league could help Sterling thrive.

Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace have asked for potential attacking options this season. After the departure of Olise, the Eagles have lacked the intent upfront. Moreover, after managing only 36 goals in the 29 matches, Crystal Palace also lacks experience in their forward line. With the addition of a versatile player like Sterling, Oliver Glasner’s side could look dynamic in attacks.

Newcastle United

There have been rumors that multiple players could leave Newcastle if the club fails to secure a top-four finish. If that happens, Eddie Howe may look to bring in experienced players to fill the gaps. In such a scenario, Sterling could emerge as a potential signing for Newcastle if they find themselves short on attacking options next season.
