The 2024–25 UEFA Champions League, under its new Swiss system format, has delivered an array of high-scoring matches and remarkable individual performances. With many unexpected players taking on the European stage and the veterans putting up a class, the race to top scorer in the tournament this year is end-to-end.

The campaign has led to some levelled-up stakes as we are witnessing some brilliant individual performances. With the increased competitiveness, comes the goals as neither of the teams was seen settling on a draw this year around.

Among the elite goalscorers of Europe, Borussia Dortmund’s Serhou Guirassy has emerged as a top-tier talent. Having scored 10 goals already this season, he currently tops the chart of most goals in the Champions League as of March 2025. Scoring some clutch goals against Shakhtar Donetsk and Sporting Lisbon, Guirassy has 13 G/A in 10 games so far.

Barcelona by far has been one the best teams in the UEFA Champions League campaign so far. Thanks to their leaders Robert Lewandowski (9 Goals) and Raphina (8 Goals) who are second and third on the top goal scorer’s list, the Spanish side managed to finish second on the table, two points behind Liverpool.

In the second leg hat-trick that eliminated Manchester City, Kylian Mbappé tied himself with Vinícius Júnior of Real Madrid, Harry Kane of Bayern Munich, and Vangelis Pavlidis of Benfica with seven goals to each. Madrid’s star players Mbappe and Vinícius Júnior have started to find their feet, contributing 14 goals among them in the competition.

With teams and players alike stepping up to the plate, this season’s Champions League has been a monument to aggressive football and will go down as a memorial campaign for football lovers everywhere.
