Liverpool will take on Paris Saint Germain in what will be a Round of 16 clash in the Champions League. This will be by far Arne Slot’s biggest test as the Reds’ manager given the form PSG have been in lately.

The last time these two clubs played each other was back in 2018 in the group stage games of the competition. Each side has a win over the other in the head-to-head comparison.

PSG who is yet to lose a game in 2025 will be looking to make the most of the home advantage in the first leg. While the manager Luis Enrique will be aware of the battle that awaits at Anfield, he will look to take a healthy lead here.

Liverpool finished top of the table with only one defeat all season coming into the knockouts. Slot called this fixture ‘for everyone who loves football’ as his squad is ready to conquer.

When asked about what he thinks he got no advantage drawing with PSG even after finishing first, the Dutch manager said:

“No, that’s clear because I see Paris Saint-Germain as one of the strongest teams in Europe. I think everyone agrees with me if you’ve seen them playing in the last few weeks or last few months already.”

“But that could happen in the former format as well; so, if you ended up No.1, there was always one team that ended up No.2 that you felt like, ‘We’re hoping not to get that team…’ It can happen in this format as well.”

PSG, who finished 15th on the table, came through with a thumping 10-0 aggregate win over Brest in the knockouts. It only makes sense for Slot to take the French side seriously with players like Ousmane Dembélé and Bradley Barcola stepping up more than ever.
