FC Barcelona put up a convincing performance with six wins from the eight in the group stage of the Champions League. As they look to march forward, they will travel to Lisbon as they face Benfica in their first leg of a round of 16 clash.

The UEFA Champions League clash between FC Barcelona and Benfica will kick off in a Wednesday afternoon game. Both of these clubs have been in stellar form as the hosts haven’t lost a game since January 2024. On the other hand, the Culers will come into the contest 15 games unbeaten.

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick made sure to acknowledge the Portuguese side calling them a confident side. Speaking to the press ahead of the clash he said:

“We are playing against one of the best sides in the Champions League. They are very confident and play very well. We have to be better than them”, he explained in the pre-match press conference coming from the Estádio da Luz.”

“There was of course a nod towards the last time the sides met in the league phase, which ended 4-5, as he stated “Hopefully we are better prepared than last time. Because it will be a tough match”.

These comments indicate Flick and his squad wouldn’t be taking Benfica lightly. Given the high-scoring games it has produced over the years, we are in for a typical Champions League clash.
