Jose Mourinho files a countersuit against Galatasaray
In response to Galatasaray’s complaints over Jose Mourinho’s racist remarks, the Fenerbahçe manager has now filed a countersuit against them . Using the Fenerbahçe’s legal team, the Portuguese manager registered a case against Galatasaray, seeking 1,907,000 Turkish lira (approximately $50,000) in damages for what he describes as an attack on his rights.
Fenerbahçe through a social media post conveyed these legal affairs as they captioned: “We would like to announce to the public that a lawsuit for non-pecuniary damages of 1 million 907 thousand Turkish Liras has been filed against Galatasaray Sports Club by Jose Mourinho through Fenerbahçe Sports Club lawyers due to the attack on the personal rights of our Technical Director Jose Mourinho.”

After the Galatasaray vs Fenerbahçe game concluded 0-0, Mourinho had criticised Galatasaray players’ celebration and said that they “were jumping like monkeys.”
“I have to thank the referee. After the big dive in the first minute and their (Galatasaray’s) bench jumping like monkeys on top of each other.”

Following these comments, Galatasaray condemned Mourinho’s remarks, labelling them as racist, and announced plans to file complaints with both UEFA and FIFA. The club also initiated criminal proceedings against Mourinho, asserting that his statements were “unequivocally inhumane rhetoric.”
As the verdict came out, Mourinho was imposed a four-match suspension and was also fined 1,617,000 Turkish lira (approximately $44,000) by The Turkish Federation (TFF). However, in reply to this sequence, Mourinho and Fenerbahçe are now proceeding with a legal contact against Galatasaray.
The long-standing rivalry between the two clubs has been heightened by this sequence of events, taking the battle outside of the football field and into the legal system. Mourinho has had a successful season with Fenerbahçe as they are still title contenders while also making it to the Round of 16 in the Europa League.
It’ll be interesting to see how the remaining season turns out as Mourinho’s Fenerbahce is six points behind league leaders Galatasaray with 24 matchdays commenced.
