The Kansas City Chiefs have been one of the most dominant franchises across all of sports. They have been winning every playoff game for the past three years and the others do not seem to have an answer. Josh Allen and the Bills most certainly will tell you. Allen is now 0-4 against the Chiefs and when he lost to the Chiefs again, he said “To beat the champs, you gotta beat the champs.” That is the mantra but what about the execution? Last season, Lamar Jackson and the Ravens played them in the AFC championship round. The results were the same. Now, the Chiefs are lookin for a three-peat and the only team standing is the Philadelphia Eagles. Can the Chiefs finally be dethroned?

The Chiefs’ winning habits is nothing new. It started ever since Andy Reid took over as the head coach in 2013. Reid has helped the Chiefs make the playoffs 11 times out his 12 years with the team. While it took Reid a while to find his groove, the winning has been constant. Once the Chiefs drafted Mahomes, it was basically over for the rest of the league. The Chiefs have at least been to the AFC championship round, every single season since Mahomes’ arrival. They now have 5 Super Bowl appearances in 7 years (since Mahomes was drafted) and have won 3.

Who did the Chiefs last lose to in the playoffs?

To put the Chiefs’ dominance into perspective, it has been three years since the Chiefs lost a playoff game. Their previous loss came against Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Conference Championship round of 2021. The Chiefs had a horrible game in their last loss. Even though they were up by 18 points going into the third quarter, they lost the game by 3 points. They gave up 24 points in the 2nd half.

The Bengals had a historic run in the 2021 season. They won their first road playoff game and also played in the AFC Championship game for the first time since 1988. However, they failed to win the Super Bowl trophy after losing against the L.A Rams.

Who has Patrick Mahomes lost to other than Burrow?

Patrick Mahomes has also been beaten by Tom Brady. Brady is a flawless, 2-0, against Patrick Mahomes in the postseason. However, Mahomes was 3-1 against Brady in the regular season meetings.

Mahomes and the Chiefs was first knocked out of the AFC Championship round in 2018 by the Patriots. Later, Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the Chiefs in the Super Bowl. Brady spoiled Mahomes’ hopes of winning back-to-back Super Bowls in 2020.

Mahomes has only lost to Joe Burrow and Tom Brady, so far, in the playoffs. While many quarterbacks have challenged him over the years, none have had an answer. Maybe only Joe Burrow knows how to beat Mahomes at this point.
