Will Trevor Lawrence get his first win against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs tonight?
After a doubleheader last week on Monday Night Football (MNF), this week we return to the traditional single game in MNF’s prime-time slot. MNF is all set to bring us the last game of this week, after which the attention will turn to week 6.
Monday Night Football for week 5 brings us the Patrick Mahomes-led Kansas City Chiefs up against the Jacksonville Jaguars of Trevor Lawrence and company.
The Chiefs come into this matchup having won their previous two games against the Ravens and the Giants for a 2-2 overall record. The defense has continued to show stability, but it is the offense that has clicked in the past couple of games.
As for the Jaguars, Trevor Lawrence hasn’t gotten off to the best of starts, but even then, they are 3-1 with an impressive win over the San Francisco 49ers last week. Travis Etienne has kept the offense flowing, while the defense has done a great job in containing the opposition for the most part.

The Chiefs and the Jaguars have met 15 times overall to date. Kansas City currently holds a 9-6 head-to-head record over Jacksonville and is on a 7-game win streak. Mahomes has won both regular season games against Trevor Lawrence, while the latter is also 0-1 in the postseason against the Chiefs’ great.
The last game between the two sides came on 17th September, 2023, in which the Chiefs won a low-scoring contest 17-9. Mahomes had 305 passing yards, 2 touchdowns, and an interception, whereas Lawrence had 216 passing yards with no touchdowns or picks.
The MNF matchup for week 5 between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Jacksonville Jaguars is set to start at 8:15 p.m. ET tonight (7:15 p.m. CT). The game will be played at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida.

The Jaguars are off to one of their better starts in recent years with a 3-1 record. But two of their wins have come against the Panthers and the Texans, both teams that have struggled initially. Their win against the 49ers was commendable, but it is worth noting that San Francisco is hit with the injury bug.
That said, Travis Etienne has been the spark on offense for the Jaguars, and the defense has also held it together very well to date. However, the past couple of weeks have been promising for the Chiefs and their offense. Kansas City’s dominant win against the Ravens last week is one to take note of.
Our Prediction: Kansas City Chiefs to win.

After starting my professional career as a French-to-English translator, working as a content writer is a new adventure for me. I started out in the sports media field for two main reasons: my love for sports in general, especially the NFL, NBA, and Tennis, as well as my passion for writing. The best part of this job is that I get to write a variety of pieces with the freedom to explore content from various angles. It also enables me to stay up to date with the sporting world, which otherwise can be difficult to do in the day-to-day grind. In a world full of chaos, sports unite and entertain like nothing else!
