Week 5 saw both the Eagles and Bills lose their games, leaving no undefeated teams for the 2025 NFL season!
It’s nearly the end of week 4 in the 2025-26 NFL season, and with that, all teams have tasted defeat at least once this year. Entering week 5 only, two teams, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Buffalo Bills, remained undefeated, but their runs also came to an end on Sunday.
Entering week 4, there were a total of six undefeated teams, including the San Francisco 4ers, Indianapolis Colts, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the Los Angeles Chargers, along with the aforementioned two teams. And while 4 teams fell by the wayside in week 4, the remaining two faltered in week 5.
As mentioned previously, there were only two teams, one from the AFC and one from the NFC, to remain undefeated heading into week 5. The Bills were atop the AFC with 4 wins from 4 games, while the defending Super Bowl Champions, the Eagles, were atop the NFC with 4 wins through 4 weeks of football.
The Bills entered week 5 with victories over the Ravens, Jets, and the Dolphins. Their week 1 game against Baltimore was a thriller after Josh Allen led them to a come-from-behind win in the fourth quarter. Weeks 2 and 3 were relatively easier games against divisional opponents, although the Dolphins were within striking distance for much of the game.
With the reigning MVP in their ranks, the Bills were playing quality football and had a great chance to remain undefeated in the upcoming weeks, with games against weaker teams such as the Patriots and Panthers, but New England marched into Orchard Park and came away with a 23-20 win to send the Bills to 4-1 on the season.

The Eagles were 4-0, but they did not yet look like the runaway favorites to defend their title. There is plenty of time for that, but most of their games could have gone the other way. The Cowboys surprised everyone with how narrowly they lost on opening day, and the Chiefs were just one good possession away from winning despite being down their top two receivers.
As for the week 3 game against the Rams, Los Angeles let slip a 26-7 lead in the third quarter to end up losing 26-33. Credit to the Eagles for the tremendous fight back, but the Rams also shot themselves in the foot in week 3. In week 4, they raced off to a big lead against the Buccaneers, but Tampa Bay nearly came back and made it closer than it should have been.
Eventually, it was the Denver Broncos who pulled off a come-from-behind win over the Eagles last night, handing Philadelphia its first loss of the season.

The Chargers are a much-improved team in Jim Harbaugh’s second year in charge. They have spent this offseason building a quality offensive line that is providing Justin Herbert time to get the ball out, even with key tackle Rashawn Slater out for the season.
They have faced all three divisional opponents in the first three weeks of the season and have defeated all of them, which was surely a huge confidence booster. The injury to running back Najee Harris was a big loss, and in week 4, they lost unexpectedly to the Giants.
The Colts are the surprise of the season so far. Nobody truly expected them to get off to a 3-0 start, which includes two wins over divisional opponents. There was plenty of talk in the offseason regarding the starter under center, a job that Daniel Jones won over Anthony Richardson.
Jones, however, got off to a terrific start with over 800 passing yards, 3 touchdowns, and 1 interception from the first three games. Indy also set a record for not punting even once in their first two games to start the season, and had punted only one time in the first three games.
Unfortunately, Indianapolis’ undefeated run met its end against the Rams yesterday in their week 4 matchup. The Colts are still playing excellent football and remain with a great chance to make the postseason.

The 49ers are again dealing with a host of injuries to key players. Wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk is still out recovering from last season’s ACL injury. Tight End George Kittle is also missing the action due to injury, while quarterback Brock Purdy missed weeks 2 and 3 as well.
Nevertheless, backup quarterback Mac Jones was able to guide the team to two wins over the Saints and the Cardinals. The week 4 loss to the Jaguars with Purdy back under center was disappointing. It hasn’t been pretty, but with the easiest schedule in the league this season, things are looking pretty good for the NFC West team.

Finally, we come to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, whose first three games have been one-score wins. The offense with Baker Mayfield under center and the receiving duo of Mike Evans and rookie Emeka Egbuka has done well, despite missing Chris Godwin’s presence. However, Evans has injured his hamstring, and his time of return will be of utmost importance.
Godwin did make his return yesterday, but the Eagles got off to a terrific start and took a big lead into the half. Despite a fighting effort, the Bucs were unable to win, and their undefeated run also came to an end.
Now that the Bills and the Eagles are the only two teams left to lose this season, it will be exciting to see how far they can go. Buffalo’s next matchup is against the Patriots, while Philadelphia takes on the Broncos in week 5.
