Klay Thompson made a return to Chase Center to reunite with Stephen Curry and Daymond Green for the first time since his departure from the Golden State Warriors. It was a ride of emotions for the Splash Brothers when the Warriors hosted the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday night. It’s obvious to feel the pressure when you spend 13 years with a team and then, you play against them in their home arena.

Thompson’s arrival at Bay Arena already created a spark and fans outside were glued to the screen for this epic contest. Warriors gave it fuel by posting a tribute video and the media also made stories around this. Meanwhile, Thompson entertained fans with a standout performance in the 120-117 loss.

A warm welcome for “Captain Klay”

Golden State Warriors organised a huge event to offer tribute to their former superstar. The franchise had 400 employees lining the entrance tunnel for a warm welcome of Klay Thompson. It felt like a big celebrity was coming to launch something as photographers surrounded him to take the best shot of the night.

The camera crew followed him to make the best footage of the welcome event. Warriors gave special captain’s hats to all the fans in attendance at the game. ‘Inside the NBA’ crew and the staff members were also wearing captain hats.

Thompson mimics signature shimmy for Curry

Steph Curry and Klay Thompson have played together for 13 years. They gave us kind of a Bollywood nostalgia of “Karan Arjun” which is our version of “Splash Brothers”, a nickname of the duo. Karan Arjun is a famous 90s Bollywood film directed by Rakesh Roshan, starring Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan. Indian fans can choose their version of Splash Bros.

The Splash Brothers won four NBA titles for the Golden State Warriors. Curry and Thompson appeared in more than 500 wins together in the NBA which is a record. Both exchanged thoughts ahead of the game and it created a lot off buzz around Klay Thompson’s comeback to Bay.

Following the warm welcome, Steph Curry scored a big three in the opening quarter and pointed towards Klay Thompson. The Maverick’s shooting guard didn’t respond as he waited for the right time. Curry was on the bench in the second quarter when Thompson hit two threes and used the patented celebration of his former teammate. Curry could only shake his head while watching this from the bench with a towel over his head.

Thompson’s journey at Golden State Warriors came to an end when he joined the Dallas Mavericks this season after signing a three-year contract worth $50 million. Klay scored 11 points in the opening half with three 3-pointers against the Warriors. Thompson appeared in 10 games this season for Dallas and averaging 13.8 points, 3.7 boards, and 2.0 assists per game while shooting 35.4% from three.
