Warriors vs. Mavericks: Steph Curry spoils Klay Thompson’s homecoming

Swati Bhatia

Curry led the charge for Warriors with a 37-point game.

The ‘Splash Bros’ turned foes on Wednesday when Klay Thompson returned to the Bay with the Mavericks. As expected, the game turned out to be an instant classic, with Steph Curry leading the charge to power the Warriors to a 120-117 victory over the Mavericks in the NBA Cup.

During his much-anticipated return to Golden State, Klay Thompson delivered an impressive performance, scoring 22 points, including two back-to-back 3Ps in the second quarter. However, it wasn’t enough to counter Stephen Curry’s clutch heroics who had a 12-3 run in the final 3 minutes to seal a win. Curry finished the game with 37 points, hitting 5-12 from three-point range.

Despite not being fully fit, Luka Doncic had a superb game, scoring 31 points, 8 rebounds, and six assists. Kyrie Irving also added 21 points and six assists.

Steph Curry sets a new record in another clutch outing

Steph Curry set a new record after pulling off another clutch performance against Mavs. With his 37-point outing, the 36-year-old set a new record, becoming the oldest point guard in NBA history to have back-to-back 30-point games.

Curry has been at his vintage best since his return from an ankle injury which forced him out for 3 games. The star point guard is averaging 22 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 6.3 assists this season.
