US Open 2025 Day-1 Order of Play, Top Players in Action & Where to Watch

Top stars in action as the final major of the season gets underway.

The 2025 US Open is set to commence for the first time on a Sunday, as a fortnight of action-packed entertainment awaits fans in New York City. Plenty of stars will be taking to court on Day-1, including some past winners. After the roaring success of the Mixed Doubles Championship last week, the singles and doubles competitors are ready to produce some spine-tingling tennis at Flushing Meadows. Here’s all you need to know about the opening day.

US Open 2025 Day-1 (Sunday): Order of Play

The first match on several courts is set to be played at 11:00 AM Local Time (4:00 PM BST) on Sunday. Meanwhile, Arthur Ashe opens its account at 12:00 Noon Local Time (5:00 PM BST).

US Open 2025 Day-1 (Sunday): Players to Watch Out For

Former World No. 1 Novak Djokovic will begin his quest for a record-breaking 25th Grand Slam title on Sunday, as he takes on young southpaw Learner Tien on Arthur Ashe Stadium. Meanwhile, reigning women’s singles champion and top seed Aryna Sabalenka will also be in action during the day session. American title hopes Taylor Fritz, Ben Shelton and Jessica Pegula step foot on the show courts too, alongside the likes of Daniil Medvedev and Jasmine Paolini.

US Open 2021 winner Emma Raducanu will open up Louis Armstrong Stadium against Japanese qualifier Ena Shibahara. Out on Grandstand Court, Filipino prodigy Alexandra Eala will face the stern challenge of having to overcome 14th seed Clara Tauson. Former finalists Leylah Fernandez and Victoria Azarenka, Roland Garros 2017 champ Jelena Ostapenko, and No. 10 seed Emma Navarro will round up proceedings on the outside courts. On the men’s side, watch out for Miami Open winner Jakub Mensik and 18th seed Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.

The US Open 2025 will be broadcast live on ESPN across the United States. Meanwhile, fans in the United Kingdom can access matches live on Sky Sports. Additionally, ESPN International, EuroSport, SuperSport, Star Sports and Stan Sport will showcase live action – based on which part of the world you are watching from.
