US Open 2025 – Daddy Novak Djokovic Gives Surprise Birthday Gift to Daughter Tara Djokovic After Quarter-final Win Over Taylor Fritz

Great wins come with great sacrifices. In the case of Novak Djokovic, that means missing his daughter Tara’s birthday almost every year. While the Serb has created a US Open history by beating Taylor Fritz to reach the semi-finals, he has once again missed his daughter’s birthday. However, that doesn’t mean that Daddy won’t try to make up to his daughter. No! In fact, Djoker found the most delightful way to make it a memorable day for Tara.

Novak Djokovic Turns Pop Star for Daughter’s Birthday

Slowly but surely, Djokovic has turned into a big fan-favorite. That’s quite a turnaround for a player who was once treated like a villain due to his almost machine-like efficiency. However, part of the reason for this turnaround is Djokovic’s growing playfulness at the tail-end of his career. That was visible again when the 38-year-old pulled out some great dance moves after qualifying for the semi-finals of the US Open. Earlier, everyone thought that was the Djoker just being, well, the Djoker. But there was a deeper reason behind it.

During his post-match interview, Djokovic revealed that it was 2nd September, that is, his daughter Tara’s birthday. Because he was once again missing the occasion, Djokovic made up for it by doing the steps his daughter taught him. “We are at home doing different choreographies, and this is one of them,” he said. “Hopefully, I’ll make her smile when she wakes up in the morning,” Djokovic said after the match.

He went on to explain that his dance was inspired by KPop Demon Hunters. A blockbuster movie that is breaking global records on Netflix. Djokovic did the steps of “Soda Pop,” a hit song from that movie’s album that is topping the global music charts. Certainly, that’s a wholesome gift and should make his daughter’s mood slightly. Especially after he revealed how unhappy she was with his absence.

Who Is Tara Djokovic?

Tara Djokovic, who has just turned 8, has a rather interesting relationship with tennis. Interesting, as in, she doesn’t really love it per her father. She has been spotted multiple times in Novak Djokovic’s matches, but sometimes she doesn’t even root for him. For instance, Djokovic once hilariously revealed that his daughter Tara was a fan of Andrey Rublev because she loves his energy and headband.

Then, in 2024, Tara once again came into the news after a video of her reading a book while watching Djokovic’s match went viral. Later, the 38-year-old admitted it made him happy but also sad. “My tennis doesn’t make her excited so much … she needs to grab a book to entertain herself,” Novak Djokovic said about his daughter.

One of the biggest pet peeves of Novak Djokovic has always been the timing of the US Open clashing with his daughter’s birthday. The 24-time Grand Slam Champion’s impeccable record in the tournament means that he is almost always thousands of miles away from his family on his Tara’s special day.

“She was not very happy about it, me being absent from the birthday party. So don’t remind me of that, please. But I’ll try to win. But hopefully the win can be something she can be happy with,” Djokovic revealed earlier in the tournament. “Yeah, daddy away and daddy present is a big difference, and I know that.”

Hopefully this wholesome dance by Djokovic will prove to be a good present. But everyone knows what the best present will be? Him bringing home the historic 25th Grand Slam. That might make his absence worth it, if only for a short while. Until then, Djokovic continues his face turn as the world starts celebrating his status as one of, if not the, greatest players of all time.
