The UFC 316 welterweight clash between Vicente Luque and Kevin Holland on June 7, 2025, promises to be a thrilling main card showdown. Luque ranked 14th in the division is know for his relentless pressure and has 20 finishes in his MMA career so far. He is tied 7th for most fights with 22 in his division, ranks 4th in wins in the welterweight division, and is second only to Matt Brown for most finishes in the welterweight division with 14. Vicente Luque, aka ‘The Silent Assassin, is from New Jersey and he made his pro MMA debut in June 2009. He had a 7-4-1 record, competing around various regional promotions in Brazil before trying out for the Ultimate Fighter in 2014. In his first fight, Luque faced Nathan Coy and won via submission in the second round. But ended up losing against Hayder Hassan via split decision in the semi-finals. Soon after Luque made his official UFC debut with a win over Hayder Hassan.

After four straight wins, Luque went on to lose against Michael Graves. Some of his notable matchups includes a win over former UFC welterweight champion Belal Muhammad, Leon Edwards, Tyron Woodley, Stephen Thompson, Michael Chiesa, and many more.

Luque is 2-3 in his last five fights, and his last fight resulted in a win against Themba Gorimbo via submission, at UFC 310, December 2024. Ranking 14ht in the division, Luque will want to win this fight against Holland to climb the welterweight ranks. His current MMA record stands at 23-10-1.

Kevin Holland’s MMA Journey

Holland was born in California and compiled an amateur record of 5-0. He started his professional MMA career in 2015 and fought under various promotions including Xtreme Knockout, Legacy Fighting Championship, King of the Cage, Bellator MMA, and Legacy Fighting Alliance, collecting a 12-3 record prior to signing with the UFC. He competed in Dana White’s Contender Series and won against Will Santiago Jr. via unanimous decision.

Despite the victory, Holland was not offered a UFC contract but was brought in to face Thiago Santos at UFC 227, marking his official UFC debut. However, Holland ended up losing in his very first UFC fight but bounced back with a submission win over John Phillips. Some of his notable fights include a knockout win against Joaquin Buckley at UFC Fight Night 174, a submission win over Michael Chiesa, a first round loss against Khamzat Chimaev, and a split decision loss against Jack-Della Maddalena.

Holland won his last bout against Gunnar Nelson, but is only 2-4 in his last six bouts. He has been inconsistent in the recent years, and has now won three-straight fights or more since December 2020. Holland is the favorite to win the bout against Luque and his MMA record currently stands at 27-13-0.
