Trinity Rodman Voices Displeasure Against Wimbledon Announcers for Bringing Up Her Father at Boyfriend Ben Shelton’s Matches

Soccer player Trinity Rodman, who plays forward for the Washington Spirit of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) and the United States national team, is at Wimbledon to support and cheer for her boyfriend Ben Shelton. The 23-year-old soccer star has attended most of Shelton’s matches along with Shelton’s family members, including his parents and sister.

However, Wimbledon announcers keep fixating on her father, Dennis Rodman, a former professional basketball player who won five NBA Championships and who is also inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

The Washington Spirit forward has now voiced out her resentment on social media, calling out Wimbledon’s announcers for two things. The first of those is the fact that the announcers have gotten her name wrong.

“For those who don’t know, my name is TRINITY not Tiffany.”

The second reason is for bringing up her father, who is not even present at the prestigious grass tournament.

“Also, for Ben’s matches, he has his family there as his support system, which includes his dad… my dads not even in MY life no need to bring him up during HIS matches when I don’t even want him talked about during mine. It’s his and his loved ones’ moment. Thank you.”

What Is the Relation Between Trinity Rodman and Her Father?

To understand the relationship between the soccer star and her father, it is important to get an idea about Dennis Rodman first. Rodman, now 64 years of age, was one of the most gifted basketball players on the court, mainly due to his defensive and rebounding skills.

However, off the court, he had a flamboyant personality that irked several people the wrong way. His over-the-top social life, including partying, and his general attitude in life have always been at the center of his personality, and as such, despite being a father to Trinity, he has never been able to maintain a healthy relationship with her.

In fact, Trinity has made it publicly clear that even though the former basketball star is her father, it is only by blood and nothing more. Her father has never been a part of her life and has only shown up to see her every once in a while.

During the 2024 Olympics, Trinity expressed how her father showed up once in one of her playoff matches in 2021. The pair met and embraced, but then he never reached out to her for another two years. This has basically been the trend that has followed over and over again.

This complicated relationship means nothing to her now, and she would rather focus on her life and support her boyfriend, who is now set to play the biggest match of his tournament as he takes on the world number 1, Jannik Sinner, in the quarterfinal of Wimbledon. Having already achieved his best result at SW19, Shleton is looking to advance to a third semifinal at a major.
