Trevor Lawrence Hopes for a “Young Offensive Coach” for the Jaguars

As the Jacksonville Jaguars search for a new head coach following the dismissal of Doug Pederson, franchise quarterback Trevor Lawrence has made his preferences clear.

Trevor Lawrence expressed a desire for a young, offensive-minded coach who can revamp the team’s system and establish a foundation for sustained success.

“Obviously, I’m biased as an offensive guy,” Trevor Lawrence stated, according to Jaguars reporter Dianna Stevens. “I’d love to have a young offensive coach who can adapt our system and help us build on it for years to come.”

Jaguars’ Coaching Search in Full Swing

Jacksonville has already begun interviewing several candidates for the head coaching vacancy. Among the frontrunners is Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, who has garnered significant attention. The team has also considered two defensive minds: Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn and former Jets head coach Robert Saleh.

In addition to these interviews, the Jaguars have expressed interest in meeting with other offensive coordinators, including Liam Coen (Buccaneers), Kellen Moore (Eagles), and Joe Brady (Bills).

While these interviews have yet to be scheduled, the expectation is that Jacksonville will prioritize hiring an offensive-minded coach. This approach aligns with the team’s need for improvement, as the Jaguars ranked just 25th out of 32 teams in total yards per game during the 2024 season.

Strength and Resilience: A Key Focus

Beyond offensive innovation, Lawrence emphasized the importance of a coach who can bring “strength and resilience” back to the team. “I have my opinions on this process, but I don’t want to overstep and go beyond my role,” Trevor Lawrence said. “These are discussions I’ll have with [owner] Shad Khan and [general manager] Trent Baalke.”

As the Jaguars’ search continues, all eyes are on the organization to make a decision that aligns with Lawrence’s vision for a competitive and enduring future.
