Tottenham Initiate Talks With Manchester City To Sign Savinho

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly opened negotiations with Manchester City over the signing of Brazilian international Savinho. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham have identified Savinho as an ideal reinforcement for the club’s attack as they look to bolster their wide options ahead of the new season.

The 21-year-old forward has been described as an “ideal player” by Spurs boss Thomas Frank. Notably, Savinho is understood to be open to a move to north London, provided the two clubs can reach an agreement on a transfer fee. Reports suggest the deal could cost Tottenham up to £70 million.

Savinho joined Manchester City from Troyes in July 2024 for around €40 million after an impressive loan spell at Girona, where he recorded 9 goals and 10 assists in 41 appearances during the 2023/24 season. Since arriving at City, the winger has featured in 48 matches, contributing 3 goals and 11 assists. The skillful winger has earned a solid reputation for his dribbling ability, creativity and pace on the wings.

Tottenham’s Desperate Need for Attacking Reinforcements

Spurs’ move for Savinho comes in the wake of significant disruptions to their attacking lineup. The departure of captain Son Heung-min to LAFC, combined with James Maddison’s long-term ACL injury, has left big gaps in the Tottenham forward line. As a result, Tottenham have stepped up their efforts in the transfer market.

Spurs manager Thomas Frank sees Savinho as a player capable of providing both goals and assists, while also bringing flair and creativity to Tottenham’s attacking play. While Manchester City are not actively seeking to sell Savinho, the club is willing to consider offers that meet their valuation. Tottenham remain determined to land the Brazilian and the outcome of these negotiations will play a key role in shaping their attacking setup for the upcoming campaign.

If a deal is struck, Savinho would become one of Spurs’ marquee signings of the summer. Tottenham have already signed attacking midfielder Mohammed Kudus from West Ham for £55m this summer. Spurs had been close to landing Morgan Gibbs-White from Nottingham Forest and were optimistic about the deal. However, behind-the-scenes issues led to Gibbs-White signing a new contract with Forest instead.
