Tottenham Sign West Ham Attacker Mohammed Kudus for £55M

Kudus will add creativity and dynamism to Tottenham’s attack as they prepare for the 2025/26 campaign under Thomas Frank.

Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United in a £55 million deal, with the transfer subject to a work permit. The 24-year-old Ghana international has signed a six-year contract with Spurs, which will keep him at the club until 2031.

Kudus had an £85 million release clause at West Ham but Spurs secured the attacker after repeated negotiations. Their initial £50 million bid was rejected, with West Ham valuing the player closer to £60 million. The transfer sees Kudus become the first player to move between West Ham and Tottenham since Scott Parker in 2011.

He only wanted Spurs.

Why Spurs Manager Thomas Frank Made Kudus His First Signing

Mohammed Kudus becomes the first signing under new head coach Thomas Frank’s reign at Spurs. Kudus has been a standout performer since joining West Ham from Ajax in 2023 for £38 million. He scored 13 goals and provided 12 assists in 65 Premier League appearances. He also played a crucial role during the Hammers’ European campaigns and quickly became a key figure at the London Stadium.

Chelsea and Newcastle were among at least six top clubs to enquire about Kudus, but the player prioritised a move to Spurs. The Ghana international cited Tottenham’s history, Champions League ambitions and head coach Thomas Frank as the key reasons for his decision.

After the transfer was made official, Kudus said he “always wanted to play at the highest level.” He told the club’s media,

“How big the club is, the history, and the Champions League as well, it’s a big moment. I’m very happy and can’t wait to start. From where [Frank] has come from, and seeing the amount of talent he has developed to become great players, it’s a big sign as to why I wanted to work under him as well.”

Kudus will add creativity and dynamism to Tottenham’s attack as they prepare for the 2025/26 campaign under Thomas Frank, who replaced Ange Postecoglou last month.

The arrival of Kudus could soon be followed by the signing of Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White, who is set to undergo a medical on Friday ahead of a £60 million move.
