Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are set to clash in a Europa League final on Wednesday which seems very weird to many people. Mainly because both teams are doing exceptionally badly in the Premier League this season. With only one match left to be played in the league, they are just hovering over the relegation zone.

Man United are sitting in 16th place and Spurs are in 17th position in the league table. Hence, this final is an extremely important one for both teams. This will not just revise their season a little, but also confirm a Champions League berth next season. On that note, the two teams faced each other 16 years ago in another final.

After 16 years, the two teams will renew their rivalry, this time on May 21, 2025. The much-anticipated clash will take place at San Mamés Stadium in Bilbao. The last one was held at Wembley in 2009, in the League Cup final. Man United came out as the winner in that final. And they will expect to repeat that fate again today.

The last time these two Premier League giants faced each other in a final was back in 2009. Sixteen years ago these two teams met in the League Cup final at Wembley. The match ended goalless after 120 tense minutes. Thus, forcing a penalty shootout to decide the winner.
