The UEFA Europa League 2025 finalists, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, have sparked debates on the UCL qualifications. Given their form in the Premier League, both clubs have survived in the bottom half of the table through the season. This poor run in the English League has forced some to question whether their standards are enough to play in the UCL next season.

Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was one of the popular figures to comment on the debate. Suggesting a change in the competition, Wenger said the winner of this year’s UEL campaign should retain his spot in the competition instead of qualifying for the Champions League.
