A year after facing one another in the same stage and same tournament, Tommy Paul and Hubert Hurkacz lock horns in the 2025 Internazionali BNL d’Italia quarterfinals on Thursday. Paul is ranked No. 12 in the world, and is looking to reclaim his forbidden fruit – the Top-10 ranking. On the other hand, Hurkacz is seeded 30th at the Italian capital and beat Miami Open winner Jakub Mensik to enter the last eight.

Paul and Hurkacz have played each other on three previous occasions – the 6’5” Polish sensation emerged a 7-5 7-6(4) victor in the first of these – back in 2021 at the Paris Masters. It goes without saying that a win over Hurkacz will take him one step closer to both these dreams.

On the other hand, Paul converts 42% break points on this surface. The 27-year-old beat the likes of Machac and de Minaur en route to the QF stage.

The winner of this encounter will take on either Jannik Sinner or Casper Ruud in the semi-finals.
