Cristiano Ronaldo has hinted at the end of his journey with Al Nassr after their 2024–25 Saudi Pro League campaign wrapped up in disappointing fashion. Al Nassr fell to a 3-2 defeat to Al-Fateh in their last game of the Saudi Premier League season. The loss saw Al Nassr miss out on qualification for next season’s AFC Champions League as they finished third behind Al Ittihad and Al Hilal.

While Al Nassr’s season ended without silverware, Ronaldo continued to break records. The Portugese icon became the first player in football history to reach 800 club goals, scoring 5 for Sporting, 145 for Manchester United, 450 for Real Madrid, 101 for Juventus, and 99 for Al-Nassr. He also claimed the Saudi Pro League Golden Boot for a second consecutive year, finishing the season with 25 goals following his 35-goal haul last season.

Shortly after the final whistle, Ronaldo took to social media and posted a cryptic message with the caption, “This chapter is over. The story? Still being written. Grateful to all.” The 40-year-old forward’s words sparked immediate speculation over his future, especially with his current contract set to expire this summer. Ronaldo signed with the Saudi club in 2022 following his second spell at Manchester United.

According to reports, Ronaldo may be exploring options to join a Club World Cup-bound team, with a special transfer window from June 1 to 10 allowing the clubs to sign players. Talks with several sides are already reportedly underway. The idea of watching both Ronaldo and Messi play in the same Club World Cup willbe exciting for many fans. This will be the first time the FIFA Club World Cup is held in the summer and will feature 32 teams from around the world.
