New Brazil Boss Carlo Ancelotti Hails Brazil as Best Team in the World

Carlo Ancelotti takes on the challenge of ending Brazil’s two-decade-long wait for a sixth World Cup crown.

Carlo Ancelotti has officially taken charge of the Brazil national team and during his unveiling, the former Real Madrid called Brazil the best team in the world. The 65-year-old Italian tactician, one of football’s most decorated managers, was introduced by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) at a press conference in Rio de Janeiro.

Ancelotti recently ended a successful four-year stint with Real Madrid. The veteran manager described the opportunity to manage Brazil as a ‘tremendous honour and source of pride’. With a glittering CV that includes Champions League titles with AC Milan and Real Madrid.

Ancelotti takes on the challenge of ending Brazil’s two-decade-long wait for a sixth World Cup crown. His first competitive matches will come in June – away to Ecuador on the 5th and then at home to Paraguay five days later in crucial South American qualifiers. Durinhg his unveling, the Italian manager pledged to lead Brazil back to World Cup glory.

Speaking during his unveiling at the Brazilian Football Confederation headquarters, Ancelotti said,

“I have a big job ahead of me. I’m delighted, the challenge is great. I’ve always had a special connection with this team. We’re going to work to make Brazil champions again. I’m honoured and proud to lead the best team in the world.”

Brazil currently sit fourth in CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying with just four matches remaining. The top six teams will earn automatic qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

Ancelotti has replaced Dorival Junior as Brazil manager. Dorival was dismissed in March following a string of disappointing results, including a humbling 4–1 loss to arch-rivals Argentina. Brazil’s decline dates back to their 2022 World Cup exit at the hands of Croatia and has been marked by inconsistency since then as they have lost five of their last 14 matches.

Ancelotti inherits a talented but underperforming squad with high expectations from Brazilian fans. As the Selecao prepare for their final qualifying push, fans will hope the veteran coach can rekindle the country’s dominance on the global stage.
