‘The Dumbest Call In Football History’ – Marshawn Lynch’s Reaction On OControversial Play Calls Made By Pete Carroll in Super Bowl XLIX

Marshawn Lynch played in the NFL for 12 seasons. He was one of the best running backs during his time. Lynch started off his NFL career playing for the Buffalo Bills and spent 4 seasons with the team before moving on to the Seattle Seahawks. He was selected to the pro-bowl 5 times, was named to the All-Pro 1st team in 2012 and All-Pro 2nd team in 2014. He also helped the Seahawks win a Super Bowl in 2013 and was one of the most dominant forces in the league.

Lynch was known for his brute strength and intense physicality which might have even made some of the opposition players nervous. There are many games where Lynch has broken through 8 or 9 tackles straight to score a touchdown. He made plays that could give you goosebumps not just in the regular season but even the postseason. He brought his A-game every single night and did not disappoint.

Despite all the success, there is a particular call that Lynch still remembers to this day. It is not a pretty one to say the least. It was one of the worst coaching decision made by an all-time coach which has left Lynch and the Seahawks fans stunned till this day. Lynch still remembers the decision to throw a pass from the 1-yard line in Super Bowl XLIX

The Seattle Seahawks defeated the Denver Broncos in 2013 to become the Super Bowl champs. The very next season, the Seahawks were back in the Super Bowl to win their second straight title going against the Tom Brady led New England Patriots. However, a blasphemous play call took all the hopes away from the Seahawks. So what was the play?

In the final 25 seconds of Super Bowl XLIX, the Seattle Seahawks had a chance to simply rush with the football and score a touchdown. However Pete Carroll, former head coach of the Seahawks, decided to throw a pass from the 1-yard line instead. This was one of the worst play calls ever made in arguably any sport across the world.

Had the Seahawks decided to run with the football, Lynch could have had one more championship. What’s worse is the Seahawks could have been back-to-back champions and possibly go for a three-peat. Instead the pass was intercepted and the Seahawks lost the game by 4 points.

What did Marshawn Lynch say about the play?

NFL legend Shannon Sharpe’s asked Lynch about the play call made by Pete Carroll in Super Bowl XLIX.

Lynch said “You see the reaction from everybody and then as I’m going back to the sideline, I go right to Pete Carroll’s face… I hit his a** with the biggest ‘Ahahaha!'” Sharpe then asked Lynch about why wasn’t the play made for him instead. Lynch replies “Man, I have no idea… That s*** was painful cause you gotta think. You took the dream away. You took a moment away. You take a dynasty away. You took away all that s*** but you know you (Pete Carroll) put us in the history books as the dumbest call in football history.”
