The Indiana Fever were left fuming after a controversial, close loss, marked by a critical no-call in the final seconds. The New York Liberty narrowly escaped with a clutch victory. But it was a string of questionable officiating decisions in Liberty’s favor that stole the spotlight.

Indiana Fever coach Stephanie White wasn’t happy with how the officiating went, especially in the final minutes of the Saturday night game. Caitlin Clark was also at the receiving end of a tough call that paved the way for the New York Liberty victory.

Head coach Stephanie White didn’t hold back and said, “I thought she got fouled. I think it’s pretty egregious what’s been happening to us the last few games. The disrespect right now for our team has been pretty unbelievable. So, it’s disappointing, you know, that it doesn’t go both ways, or it hasn’t gone both ways.”

She added, “There’s a system to making sure that we can send stuff in and communicate our grievances, so to speak. I don’t know if I have a feeling that the system works.”

Caitlin Clark was visibly fouled during the last possession of the WNBA game with the score at 90-88. However, the referee’s no call led to an opportunity missed for the Indiana Fever. It marked Indiana’s second heartbreaking loss this season — both decided in the final moments.

Liberty Escape After Questionable Ref Call

Defending champions New York Liberty came out of a possible loss after scratching through in the clutch moments. The Fever and New York were neck-to-neck in the first quarter. Indiana Fever scored 29 points while their opponent hit 30 points.

The visitors took a lead into the end of the first half. But the Indiana Fever made a comeback in the third quarter. They had a comfortable lead, but the fourth quarter performance was what delivered the loss to the home team. Aliyah Boston poured in 27 points, while Caitlin Clark added 18 in the hard-fought loss.
